Though tbf, the demo's map was small, especially moreso when compared to the final game, and even without the elevator being in the demo since there's only one area, if you're unlocking all the shortcuts then backtracking to wherever you died, or back to the boss room, was super easy and barely took any time at all. On another note, having just played the demo yesterday before getting started on the actual game, (played both on Switch cause I wasn't home, so I plan on playing the Steam version at some point after I finish my Switch run.Īnyway, I can say for sure that you definitely did not respawn at the bonfires, and you had to backtrack from the very beginning/entrance of the tower whenever you died. Just don't expect it to fully heal you, and expect something like healing ~20 or so HP (based off of the first time I used "Rest", where Algus cooks a Slime into something that looks like a steak using magic, and it healed around 20-30 HP).

And maybe if you're lucky, that "Rest" option will do what it misled everyone into thinking it (should) do, and will heal you haha. So from the way it looks, Bonfires are nothing more than a safe room/hub with Save Points, Character Switch Points, and Story Progression and Lore/Info Scenes (if a major event happens, like beating a boss, or triggering stuff like whatever the Old Man and his Monster Ball gift is/does, etc.) by using the "Rest" option. Not a single HP was healed during that "Rest" cutscene lol A text box then popped up and said "You got 200 Soul Orbs!" and the cutscene ends. Anyway, the outcome of that "Rest" cutscene ended with Algus asking if Arias had "that orb" with him, and Arias says "yes" and hands it to him.

Occasionally, and apparently only if something story related happened and its your first time at a bonfire since that event, it will let you use the "Rest" option, and even then, it isn't necessarily a full heal kind of "Rest".įor example, my second time using Rest at the bonfire was after I ran into the Old Man in the Gorgon Tomb after beating Tauros (the first boss as well as the demo's boss", and it was mostly just Algus asking Arias and Kyuri if they've seen an old man wandering around and if they've seen or know anything about the Monster Ball he gives Algus after the first time you meet him. I had just started playing myself, but as far as I know, and have seen/looked up, you don't spawn at bonfires and they're only ever used to save progress and switch characters.
